Electrospinning is a process in which sub-micron polymer particles, fibers or interconnected porous fiber meshes can be produced using an electrostatically driven jet of polymer solution . Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) is a semi-crystalline, hydrophilic polymer with good chemical and thermal stability. In this study, PVA nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning of aqueous PVA solution in 5-9% concentration. Fiber morphology was observed under a scanning electron microscope and effects of instrument parameters including tip-target distance, flow rate, electric voltage, degree of hydrolysis, polymer molecular weight and solution parameters such as concentration on the morphology of electrospun PVA fibers were evaluated. |
