The size-controlled polypyrrole (PPy) nanoparticles with different diameters (20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 nm) were fabricated via chemical oxidation polymerization. The influence of particle geometry on cellular uptake was studied by varying the diameter of PPy nanoparticles. We systematically analyzed the cellular uptake, transport mechanism, cytotoxicity, and innate immune response of IMR90 lung fibroblasts and J774A.1 alveolar macrophages incubated with PPy nanoparticles. The PPy nanoparticles show size-dependent cellular uptake and cytotoxicity. |
