제목 | The Effect of LC-Polymer Miscibility on Transmission Holographic Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals (HPDLCs) |
초록 | We studied the effect of miscibility between LC and polymer in HPDLC in terms of solubility parameter. We changed solubility parameter in two ways. In one way we used prepolymers of similar molecular weights but different polarities. In the other way we used hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and polypropylene glycol (PPG) 400, and built up prepolymers of molecular weight of 1000 and 2000. To this we added differential structures of diisocyanate including HDI, 4.4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyante (H12MDI). Solubility parameter was a important factor to understand phase separation in HPDLCs. With large difference in solubility parameter between LC and polymer greater phase separation was expected due to decreasing cohesive effect between LC (E7) and prepolymer. The morphology of holographic grating is analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). |
