The nanocomposites consisting of polymers and inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) have great potential to diverse applications due to their fascinating properties. In our previous study, we developed the thermally stable Au NPs via photo-crosslinkable polymeric stabilizers (PS-b-PSN3-SH). Also, we demonstrated that the Au NPs can be used as effective compatibilizers in PS/PMMA blends. In this study, we extended this approach to further tune the surface properties of the Au NPs. First, we controlled the surface properties of the Au NPs by adjusting the amount of PS and PSN3 in the stabilizers. In this case, the surface property of thermally stable Au NPs was precisely controlled. Second, we studied the thermally stable Au NPs effect on thin film morphologies. We introduced the various amount of Au NPs into symmetric PS-b-PMMA thin film to mediate the interface of block copolymer and to control the orientation of microdomains. The thin film morphologies were characterized by AFM and TEM. |
