제목 | Preparation and polymerization of hydrogen- bonded discotic liquid crystals |
초록 | Since the discovery of discotic liquid crystal (DLC) by Chandrasekhar et al. at 1977, DLCs have been investigated for the application of hole and electron transfer, TFT-LCD compensation layer, and nanostructured organic materials, etc. Especially, nanostructured organic materials attract increasing attention due to the application for nanoporous polymer films with two dimensional hexagonal arrays. General method for preparing nanostructured organic materials using DLC as template is to introduce a photoreactive groups to the mesogenic moieties or to the flexible alkyl chains, and perform photopolymerization at mesophase by UV irradiation. In particular, for the application of ordered namoporous materials, well-ordered two dimensional arrangements and more whole fixation of LC structures are needed. The objective of our study is to prepare hydrogen-bonded discotic liquid crystal with diacetylenic and acryloyl groups, and investigate the photopolymerization of DLC monomer in the LC state by UV irradiation. Diacetylenic and acryloyl groups can be used for more firm fixation of mesophase along columnar and lateral directions, respectively. Hydrogen bonding between phloroglucinol (PG) and phenylpyridine derivatives containing photoreactive groups was used for preparing of polymerizable DLC (Figure 1). Fig. 1.
