Organic semiconductor is a promising candidate for a number of applications, because organic molecules are easier to handle and thus the fabrication cost is usually lower than that of the inorganic materials. However, the charge transporting ability of organic materials is much lower than that of the inorganics. It has been shown that the charge transport of semiconducting devices can be improved through a doping process. A number of approaches have been reported so far regarding p-type doping, while, n-type doping is still a challenge. The electron transport in TPBi blended with a n-type benzoimidazol dopant is investigated. The electron current is found to be strongly increased. Instead of generating free electrons, the dopant molecules fill the electron traps to the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of TPBi. |
