Transparent cyclic olefin copolymer blend with improved impact strength |
초록 |
The toughening of Cylic olefin copolymer(COC, Ethylene-norbornene copolymer, Tg 139℃, norbornene content 53 mol%) with styrenic elastomer while maintaining its optical transparency was investigated. The impact strength of COC increased with the content of SEBS(Polystyrene-block-Poly(ethylene-co-butylene)-block-Polystyrene or SEPS(Polystyrene-block-Poly(ethylene-alt-propylene)-block-Polystyrene). The optical clarity of COC slightly decreased due to the refractive index mismatch between the rubbery domain and matrix. The refractive index of rubbery domain was finely controlled by adding the rubber which has a good compatability with styrenic elastomer. It was observed that the transparence of COC improved with a decrease of the refractive index difference between the domain and matrix. |
