Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is well known as a highly transparent and durable elastomer, but possesses no self-healing capability. Also, with its ease of modification, it has widely been used in coating and composite applications. In this research, amine-terminated PDMS (H2N-PDMS-NH2) and self-healable poly(MMA/MA/tBAEMA) random copolymer (PtB prepolymer) were crosslinked with diisocyanate. The PDMS nanostructure formed in PtB matrix was finely controlled by changing crosslinking and drying conditions, and the relationship of the nanostructure, self-healing, and thermo-mechanical properties of the copolymer were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and universal testing machine (UTM).
