Electrospinning is a method of extracting nanofibers from micron to nanoscale in which a high voltage is applied between the needle tip and the collector. In this study, self-supported electrospun scaffolds were prepared through a single electrospinning process, and they were post-treated using solvent-nonsolvent interaction. Specifically, thin thickness of electrospun scaffolds (< 30μm) were prepared using pure PVA and PVA/Carbon nanotube (CNT) mixture solutions. In case of PVA/CNT composite membrane, cross-linker was not added to secure PVA/CNT structure against dissolution, and CNT played as a cross-linker instead. Macro and nanoscopic changes in morphology and associated physical properties were characterized through SEM, TEM, FT-IR, and UTM. Moreover, to conform performance of all prepared membranes, they were tested for ethanol dehydration as well as desalination in pervaporation operation. |
