In this work, the effect of acid-treated carbon blacks (CB) on mechanical and thermal properties of CB/NBR compounds was investigated. Acid-treatment of CB was performed to enhance the interfacial strength between CB and NBR. The compounds with acid-treated CB, curing accelerators, and cross-linking agents were mixed using the internal mixer. The surface of acid-treated CB was characterized by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The mechanical properties of CB/NBR compounds were analyzed by tensile strength and their thermal properties were measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). |
