Influence of Controlled Acidity of Hole-Collecting Buffer Layers on the Performance and Lifetime of Polymer:Fullerene Solar Cells |

Recently the power conversion efficiency of polymer:fullerene solar cells has reached ~8 % due to the optimization of bulk heterojunction films with new conjugated polymers.However,there is still controversy on the stability and lifetime of polymer:fullerene solar cells though further improved stability has been reported for the inverted type solar cells. Hence we attempted to directly solve the PEDOT:PSS-induced degradation problem by controlling the acidity of PEDOT:PSS through the addition of a strong base to the PEDOT:PSS solution.The results showed that a small addition of strong base removed 23% of the sulfonic acid groups but did not change the device performance,even though further addition degraded the device performance owing to an increased sheet resistance and lowered work function,as well as a changed surface morphology.The detailed results will be discussed in this presentation. |
