Asymmetric cell configuration has offered unique opportunities for achieving enhanced performance in electrochemical capacitors. Two different types of electrode materials, namely conducting polymer & carbon nanomaterials were used to construct symmetric and asymmetric cells. Cyclic voltammetry analysis was carried out to examine the fundamental electrochemical properties of the electrode materials. Charge/discharge tests were conducted under various conditions, in which a commercialized stainless steel cell was employed. Importantly, the capacitive performances of the cells was compared in both symmetric and asymmetric cell configurations, which provided an insight into how the cell configuration affects the performance of the electrochemical capacitors. |
