Recently, the polymeric adsorbents have been widely used in many industrial processes for the treatment of chemical effluents. The polymeric adsorbent having functional groups and higher surface are quite useful to improve the adsorption capacity as well as selectivity. In this study, copolymer particles (styrene-co-methacrylic acid), which has uniform pores with different particle size, were synthesized using various heterogeneous polymerization procedures. The effects of different polymerization methodologies, monomer ratio and reaction temperature on physical properties of polymer particles were studied. The physical characteristics of copolymer particles were examined by nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms, scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry, and Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). |
