Conducting polymers (CPs) are a new range of organic semiconducting materials that can achieve high electrical conductivity and unique electrochemical behaviors in addition to their intrinsic advantages including light weight, processability, and low cost. These advantages of CPs can be reinforced by combination with other materials such as graphenes and metal oxides. In this work, we report syntheses and applications of various conducting nanostructures through the solution processes. The conducting nanostructures composed of CPs, metal oxides and graphenes have been designed to maximize the advantages of each material and to minimize the disadvantages of each material. As transducers in chemical sensors, the conducting nanostructures provide enhanced sensitivity and improved selectivity toward various chemical species. As active materials in supercapacitors, the conducting nanostrucutres can benefit from both electrostatic and electrochemical energy storages. |
