In previous study, we designed polymeric microcapsule where quantum dots are incorporated. The microcapsule provides QD with a secure protection from heat and moisture. Commercial applications of the microcapsule require higher stability in harsh environments such as hot and high humidity condition. Here we modify the microcapsule with optically transparent inorganic nanoparticle in order to enhance thermal resistance. The modifications are based on in-situ sol-gel reaction as well as an adsorption process. In addition, metal nanoparticles are coated on the microcapsule. Adsorbed metal nanoparticles forming arrays may produce surface plasmon resonance on the surface, which may enhance emission efficiency of QD-microcapsule. Photoluminescene and stability of the microcapsules will be presented. |
