Abstract : The reinforcements of two types which are microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and grafted MCC with methyl methacrylate (MMA) were used to investigate the mechanical behaviour of the cellulose triacetate (CTA) composite film. The CTA composite films added with 1, 2, 3, and 5% with respect to total amount of matrix and reinforcement were prepared on a glass plate at room temperature. The degree of dispersion was investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the degree of crystallinity of the CTA composite films was decreased with adding the grafted MCC with MMA. The tensile strength of the CTA composite films reinforced with MCC was increased from 82.3(0%) to 98.5 MPa(2%). And the maximum tensile strength was 100.9 MPa, when 3% grafted MCC was added in the matrix CTA film. |
