Redox-responsive Fluorescent Nanohybrid for Cancer Theragnosis |

A redox-responsive fluorescent nanohybrids as a cancer diagnosis probe was designed by the combination of inorganic and organic materials such as MnO2 and polymer dots (PD). The carbonization of carbon-based materials allows the formation of sp2 rich system enabled it to become a fluorescence probe. Functionalization of carbon source with disulfide functional group and encapsulating the PD surface with MnO2 upgrade the nanohybrid to become redox-responsive with “OFF/ON” characteristic when exposed to redox potential such as, glutathione (GSH) in cells. Reaction with GSH during delivery provide a reduction of MnO2 to Mn2+ and the drug of drug after the cleavage of disulfide functional group to become thiol group. These nanohybrid promote an insight about inorganic and organic combination which will open up possibility for application in biomedical. |
