A series of waterborne polyurethane dispersions were prepared from isophorone diisocyanate, dimetylol propionic acid, and hydrophilic/hydrophobic soft segments, via a prepolymer mixing process. The hydrophilic blocks of the polymers consist of PEG, while the hydrophobic blocks consist of PTMEG. Ethylene diamine was used as chain extender. The solid content, RNCO, ionic content were kept constant at 30%, 1.6 and 4%, respectively, butPEG content was varied. Two different nanosilicas, Aerosil A200 and R972, were mixed with the polyurethane dispersions. The mechanical/thermal property and water vapor permeability of the solid films will be presented. |
