This study presents a simple route for the fabrication of polyurethane (PU) nanofibers doped with silver-cobalt ferrite (Ag-CoF) nanoparticles as a visible light driven photocatalyst by simple and versatile technique; electrospinning of colloidal solution of Ag-CoF nanoparticles and PU. In a typical procedure, AgNO3 was added to the already prepared colloidal solution of CoF/PU and the final solution was stirred for 3h then electrospun. XRD and TEM analysis revealed that the crystalline Ag-CoF nanoparticles were uniformly distributed in/on PU nanofibers. The photocatalytic activity of the as prepared nanofiber mat was investigated by photodegradation of two organic dyes, methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (Rh B) under visible light irradiation. Overall, this type of supported photocatalyst might avoid the need of secondary operation like liquid-solid separation and can be used for potential pollutant treatment. |
