Polyurethane-layered silicate nanocomposites have received a lot of attention as they offer new possibilities to provide superior properties. In this study, the organoclays by treatment with chain-extended organifiers and polyurethane/clay nanocomposites added organoclays were prepared. Laponite was used as the clay of the hectorite structure. The organoclays were synthesized with three type of chain-extended organifiers derived from poly(tetraethylene)glycol(PTMG), hexamethylene diisocyanate(HDI), N-methyl diethanol amine(MDEA). Polyurethane elastomers derived from PTMG, 4,4’-diphenylmethane diisocyanate(MDI), 1,4-butanediol as a chain-extender were synthesized by the prepolymer method. The effect of the chemical structure of organifiers on the properties of the organoclays was investigated by d-spacing, ion-exchange fraction. And the morphology, mechanical and thermal properties of polyurethane nanocomposite elastomers synthesized with these organoclays were examined. |
