Transition metal oxide negative electrode materials can store lithium-ions and electrons through conversion reaction. However, these materials do not yet meet the requirements for successful use in commercial use due to not only the high reaction voltage but also the large voltage hysteresis and volume change between lithiation and de-lithiation process. Therefore, we suggest the manganese phosphate-based materials of manganese pyrophosphate and metaphosphate as the novel negative electrode materials. Manganese phosphate-based materials can be easily synthesized and have the relatively lower reaction voltage and smaller voltage hysteresis. Furthermore, their large polyanion can reduce the volume change during the cycle. |
