Nanoporous materials with large specific surface areas are of great interest for applications such as in molecular recognition, storage, and retrieval. Sol-gel and coordination reactions are widely used for the preparation of inorganic and metal-organic porous materials. Organic network structures can be obtained by spramolecular self-assembly via a noncovalent bonding. However, these materials suffer from drawbacks such as lack of functionality or chemical and mechanical stability. Recently, hypercross-linked organic polymers with good stability and low density have drawn considerable attention as an alternative. In this talk, we will present some examples of our work on covalent frameworks obtained from polymerizable building blocks, and their structures and functionalities. |
