In-Situ Fabrication of Micro-channeled Micro-Tubular SOFC using Multi-pass Extrusion Process |

In-Situ Micro-channeled micro SOFC was fabricated using multi-pass extrusion process with outside diameter of around 3 mm in which one tube contained 61 individual cells. The cell configuration was composed of NiO-8YSZ, 8YSZ and LSM as anode, cathode and electrolyte, respectively. The ratio of electrolyte surface area to cell volume was significantly higher than conventional tubular SOFC. Three different firing processes were applied named as 1st burn-out, 2nd burn-out and sintering, respectively. The phase analysis, microstructure and different layer thicknesses were evaluated using XRD and SEM techniques after different burn-out processes. The anode and cathode were comprised with multi-scale porosity while the electrolyte was fairly dense (relative density >96%). |
