The nitric oxide (NO) participates in various therapeutic process in vivo such as anti-restenosis, wound healing and antibacterial activity. Therefore, diverse NO delivery platforms have been reported, however, there have been continuous opinions which point out the question about the biocompatibility of the materials and NO capacity. Herein, we exploit bio-inspired polydopamine (pDA) to develop biocompatible nanocapsule-based NO delivery platform. pDA shows biocompatibility in vivo and includes a lot of secondary amine groups for conjugating the diazeniumdiolates, one of the NO-releasing moiety. Moreover, the capsule platform was expected to provide the cavity for keeping various bioactive molecules for further study. Based on these rational designs, the pDA-NO capsule was developed. The successful fabrication of pDA-NO capsule was confirmed and its NO-releasing properties and biomedical potential were evaluated. |
