Effects of the epoxide with photo-curing functional group on the electro-optic properties of holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal(HPDLC) have been studied hoping to decrease the volume shrinkage. Epoxide group should be more suitable to control the volume shrinkage due to their ring structure with bulky group. The content and functionality of epoxy have been systematically varied for HPDLC. The morphology of holographic gratings is examined using atomic force microscopy(AFM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Real time measurements of grating formation have been obtained according to the content and functionality of epoxy. By introducing epoxide group, the volume shrinkage was decreased and improved electro-optical qualities were obtained, together with a decrease in response time. |
