Switchable wettability of vertical Si nanowires array surface by simple contact-printing of siloxane oligomers and chemical washing |

Wettability of vertical Si nanowires (SiNWs) array surface, prepared by metal-assisted chemical etching process (MaCE), has been systematically investigated. And, after MaCE process including remove Ag particles at bottom site of SiNWs array with HNO3, the SiNWs array has hydrophilic properties. The wettability of Si NWs array can be easily changed from superhydrophilic to superhydrophobic by diffusion of siloxane oligomer from poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS) contact . Furthermore, the changing aspect of wettability is different with the aggregation state and the length of SiNWs array. Even though this simple method to change wettability, the duration of superhydrophobic SiNWs array has shown long-term stability, even in water condition. The superhydrophobic state SiNWs array could be easility converted to its initial wettability state by simple chemical washing with surfuric acid. And, the wettability could be switched reversibly by the simple repeatation of PDMS contact printing and surfuric acid washing process. |
