Biodegradable polymers, such as poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), and poly(lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (PLCL) are used for a variety of biomedical systems. However, their polymers have various limitations, such as long degradation time and poor mechanical property. It is expected that the above-mentioned problems of biodegradable polymers can be controlled by blending various additives and also by regulating the molecular weight and blending ratio of each polymer. In this study, the helical type of PLLA biodegradable stents was prepared with various additives, such as biodegradable polymers and their copolymers. The sirolimus (SRL)-loaded polymer solution was sprayed onto the helical stent surface using ultrasonic spray. The coating surface of fully biodegradable polymer stents was characterized by SEM and their drug-release kinetics were analyzed by HPLC. |
