Effect of Stereocomplex crystallite as a nucleating agent on the Crystallization behavior of Poly (L-lactic acid) in melt state |

Non-isothermal and isothermal crystallization behaviors of Poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) blended with different contents of Poly(D-lactic acid)(PDLA) were studied by wide-angle X-ray diffraction, rheology, differential scanning calorimetry, and polarized optical microscopy. Poly(D-lactic acid)(PDLA) molecules added in Poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) formed stereocomplex crystallites in the Poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) matrix. Non-isothermal crystallization measurement showed that crystallization temperature (Tcc) showed peculiar Poly(D-lactic acid)(PDLA) concentration dependence. Isothermal crystalliza-tion measurement showed that crystal radius growth rate decreases with increase the isothermal crystallization temperature. Spherulite growth rate shows peculiar Poly(D-lactic acid)(PDLA) concentration dependence. Poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) crystallization behavior might be affected by network structure and homogeneous dispersibility of stereocomplex crystal. |
