제목 | Gas transmission properties and morphologies of PET/Clay nanocomposites by in-situ polymerization |
초록 | Polymer/clay nanocomposites exhibit greatly enhanced properties, for example, mechanical strength, barrier property, flame resistance, even with a small addition of nanoclays. Among these improved properties, PET/clay nanocomposite has been focused on enhancing barrier property. We used two types of nanoclays, which were pristine montmorillonite and organically modified montmorillonite. PET/clay nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ polymerization in this work. The morphological characteristics of the PET/clay nanocomposites were observed by SEM and AFM. The oxygen transmission properties were evaluated for the chosen PET/clay nanocomposites by MOCON Oxtran 2/21 and the oxygen transmission rates (OTR) were decreased as nanoclays added. |
