Strong van der Waals force among MWCNTs (Multi-wall Carbon Nanotubes) and their huge aspect ratio resulted in agglomeration of MWCNTs. The surface modification of MWCNTs by grafting various polymer species has received much attention due to the reduction of the agglomeration of MWCNTs. In this study, MWCNTs were chemically modified to grow polyurethane macromonomers bearing vinyl groups and vinyl groups are used in the solution polymerization of methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate. The results for the chemical modification of MWCNTs were charaterized using TGA, 1H-NMR, FT-IR, XPS, and GPC. |
