Lifetime enhancement of PLEDs and OPVs using self-organized versatile polymeric anodes |

Flexible transparent electrode materials in organic optoelectronics seized the great attention to replace conventional brittle inorganic oxide materials. A new self-organized polymeric anode material (called as AnoHILs) was invented. The AnoHILs are based on highly conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), perfluorinated ionomer (PFI) for work function tuning, and 5wt% DMSO as an additive to enhance conductivity. It showed excellent work-function tunability. The maximum work-function of the anode was 5.8 eV which is the highest value among the flexible anodes reported until now. Moreover, transparency was higher than 90 % in all the visible range. We applied it to polymer light-emitting diodes(PLEDs) and bulk-hetero junction organic photovoltaic cells(OPVs) without an additional hole transport/extraction layer. The lifetime of PLEDs and OPVs using AnoHILs was greatly enhanced compared with those using the conventional ITO anode. |
