An ionic polyacetylene-iodine composite was effectively prepared via the in-situ synthesis of ethynylpyridine using iodine in DMF. The reaction mechanism was assumed that the activated triple bond of ethynylpyridinium salt(2EP-I2), formed at the initial reaction time, is susceptible to linear polymerization, followed by an identical propagation step that contains the produced macroanion and quaternized monomeric species. The UV-visible spectra of composite showed absorption maximum values were 513 nm and 545 nm and the PL maximum value was 585 nm. The cyclic voltammogram of resulting composite exhibited irreversible electrochemical behavior between the oxidation and reduction peaks. |
