QUASI-SOLID STATE DYE-SENSITIZED SOLAR CELLS EMPLOYING TERNARY POLYMER GEL ELECTROLYTES |
초록 |
Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) has attracted great attention over the past decade owing to its high energy conversion efficiency and low production cost. Although a respectable photon-to-electricity conversion efficiency (~11 % @ 1 sun) has been achieved for photovoltaic cell employing liquid electrolyte, the leakage of liquid solvent from such cells has been suggested as the one of the critical factors limiting the long-term stability of the DSC. Therefore, the use of non-volatile electrolytes, which have high ion conductivity at ambient temperature and excellent long-term stability, is one of the most critical issues in developing DSCs. We have focused on the development of polymer-based gel electrolytes to improve the durability of DSCs. The polymer-gel electrolytes were designed to facilitate ion transport in the highly viscous medium and to fully utilize incident light in the cell. We have employed polyethers of multiple molecular size distributions and nanofillers to prepare the polymer-gel electrolytes. The ion transport properties through these electrolytes and the photovoltaic characteristics of DSCs employing the polymer-gel electrolytes have been systematically investigated. |
