제목 Highly fluorescent amidine-modified polymer nanoparticles used for sensing copper ions and imaging of cellular copper ions
초록 Highly fluorescent amidine-modified polyacrylonitrile nanoparticles (PAN) of 50 nm diameter were fabricated for selective Cu2+ sensing. After surface modification of PAN nanoparticles, the PAN nanoparticles are converted to amidine-modified PAN (aPAN) with a Cu2+ sensing property and high QY (0.18). The selectivity of aPAN for Cu2+ is much higher than other metal ions due to the fact that Cu2+ ions have a higher binding affinity with amidine group on the surface of aPAN than other metal ions. Furthermore, as a metal ion chelator, Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) can competitively interact with Cu2+ ions to recover the quenched photoluminescence of aPAN. The sensing moiety on aPAN nanoparticles has superior mechanical properties and thermally stability, enabling their use in sensing Cu2+ in living cells.
