Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)/Nylon 6 grafted graphene oxide (Nylon-GO) composite materials were prepared via micro-compounding process, and mechanical and thermal properties of the materials were measured respectively. GO was prepared by Hummer’s method and Nylon 6 was grafted to the GO by ring opening polymerization using ε-caprolactam. PPS/Nylon-GO composite materials having 0.03 wt.% of Nylon-GO showed improved tensile strength, toughness, and thermal stability compared to pristine PPS. Agglomeration of Nylon-GO in the PPS matrix can be observed through the EDS mapping image. |
