As an alternative of rubbing method, photoalignment has been developed to fabricate an alignment layer for liquid crystal display due to their several merits such as no contamination problem, possibility of multi-domain structure, and low temperature process. However, it is usually accepted that most photoalignment methods result in the low pretilt angle, limiting control of the tilted-up direction. In this work, we demonstrate a simple peel-off of photoreactive oligomer to increase the pretilt angle in liquid crystal device. Photoreactive oligomer allows much higher pretilt angle and shows the effective peel-off phenomenon compared to conventional photocurable polymer. |
