제목 Dynamics and Conformation of Single Polymer Molecule in a Micro Slot Coating
초록 Dynamics and conformational changes of flexible polymer chains, i.e., λ-DNA, in a micro slot coating flow have been scrutinized using hybridization numerical scheme which combines computational fluid dynamics and Brownian dynamic simulations. Flow field in the coating bead regime has been calculated from two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation by Flow-3D and Brownian motion of λ-DNA has been predicted by the stochastic equation. Chain extension of λ-DNA varies with the flow strength, Wi, and flow parameter, α. Chains are significantly extended just after passing through the downstream die region due to the extensional deformation flow triggered by the free surface curvature. It has been found that molecules with high Wi and α near the free surface position are more extended than those near the moving web position.
