제목 | Bifacial amorphous silicon solar cell with aluminum doped zinc oxide electrode |
초록 | Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cell has high absorption coefficient in visible light, so it can absorb 90% of solar spectrum with 1μm thickness of a-Si:H layer. This thin film property is brought high transparency and light-weightness of a-Si:H solar cells. Therefore a-Si:H thin film solar cell is possible to be utilized as building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system which is usually installed on exterior of the building. Especially, high transparent a-Si:H thin film solar cell can be installed even on the window maintaining daylight to indoor. But, most of the a-Si:H solar cells commonly use metal top electrode which has high reflectivity and low transmittance. To obtain high transparency and reasonable solar properties, metal electrode needs to be substituted to transparent and conductive material. In this study, we replace conventional aluminum top electrode with aluminum doped zinc oxide (AZO). AZO has good matching of band level with a-Si:H layer and high transmittance deposited in thin film by sputtering system. Moreover AZO can replace conventional fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate courtesy of good electrical properties comparing with FTO. We demonstrate the effect of photovoltaic characteristics by optimizing the thickness of top AZO electrode and according to the way of light absorption. AZO effectively replaces top metal electrode and bottom FTO substrate without noticeable degradation of solar properties. By growing needs of electric generating with solar cells, BIPV system is an essential solution of solar generating in downtown area with full of skyscrapers. Bifacial a-Si:H solar cells with AZO electrode will be the most suitable candidate to BIPV system. |
