Epoxidation of Vegetable Oils and Their Uses for the Value-Added Materials |

Plant-based materials in the production of valuable polymeric materials are quite significant from both social and environmental viewpoint. Soybean oil(SO) is most important renewable resource that can be epoxidized. Epoxidized SO has potential uses as an environmentally friendly and reactive material in polymeric formulations. Here in the kinetics of the epoxidation of unsaturated SO by peroxyacetic acid was investigated. The ring-opening reaction of epoxidized SO was carried out in precence of Ambelyst 15 as absorbance catalyst. Hydroxylated SO reacted with laser dye with wide range of wavelength to afford the PUs. The resulted products are confirmed by 1H-NMRspectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy |
