Microencapsulated drug is one of the promising drug delivery system. Poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) is one of the biodegradable polyesters which has attracted attention in the controlled drug delivery due to the lack of toxicity and low cost when compared to other biodegradable polyesters. The best release behavior is continually happened until the encapsulated core materials are entirely released during the expected time, but the most prepared microcapsule is not expected their release behavior, due to the uneven release behavior of microcapsule. The object of this work is that release behavior is managed by control the number and size of surface pore. The calcium carbonate particle and 0.5 M HCl solution are used to dissolve the calcium carbonate particles as control the number and size of pore. The diameter and form of prepared microcapsules are observed by image analyzer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). As a result, the mean diameter of prepared microcapsules is 50∼60 ㎛ and spherical forms are observed by image analyzer and SEM. The number and size of surface pore and drug release rate of the microcapsules are increased with increasing the content of calcium carbonate particles. |
