제목 Physical and Interaction Characteristics of Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane (POSS) Nanohybrids with the Miscible Polymer Blends of Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)
초록 Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) moieties can be incorporated into polymer systems via blending, polymerization and grafting. Such hybridizations result in dramatic improvement of polymer properties including degradation and glass transition temperatures, flammability, mechanical strength, and oxygen permeability. In this study, we prepare the poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blends with octaisobutyl-POSS nanoparticles by the solution blending, and focus on the interaction behavior of POSS in the PEO/PMMA blends in terms of their solubility parameters and wetting coefficients. The solubility parameter and wetting coefficient are determined using the Hoftyzer and van Krevelen method, and Young’s equation, respectively. The influence of POSS on the crystalline and melting transition behavior is examined by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Thermal and mechanical properties are also investigated.
