Synthetic strategy for the formation of tetrahydropyran ring system |

The multisubstituted tetrahydropyran ring system is known to possess significant biological activities which could be a key structure of the various natural products. This biological activities and ubiquitous structure make it ideal synthetic target. Here in we describe the efficient synthetic approach toward cycolpropanol which could convert to the tetrahydropyran ring via stereo selective intramolecular addition to an aldehyde. Titanium(Ti) mediated hydroxycyclopropanation of the homoallylic alcohol was conducted under various reaction condition affording appropriate cyclopropanol. |
