제목 Preparation of Metal-Coated Monodisperse Polymer Particles by Electroless Plating
초록 Metal-coated monodisperse polymer particles have been paied great attention in the field of LCD display as components of effective conducting adhesive. In such applications, the structual stability of polymer particles are precedently required, because the viscoelasticity of polymer particles plays a crucial role in the conducting mechanism. Moreover, provided that the particles are highly monodisperse, the excellent efficiency can be achieved. The elasicity of polymer particles can be controlled by incorporating suitable crosslinking agent and crosslinking degree. In our previous study, we have prepared the micron-sized monodisperse polymer particles having various surface functionalities. By using these surface functionalities, in this study, we tried to prepare metal-coated monodisperse polymer particles by electroless plating. The constituents of an elactroless nickel solution bath are nickel salt, a reducing agent, suitable complexing agents, and stabilizers. And suitable adjustment of these components has significant effect on the metal thickness and surface morphology. Final structures of the particles showed
polymer-core/metal-shell morphology with high monodispersity. It was found that the deposition of metal cluster on polymer particles was dependent upon the surface functionality and plating bath condition.
