Anthracene-based Conjugated Small Molecules for Solution Processed Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells |

Semiconducting small molecule-based organic photovoltaics (OPV) attracted great interest since they were well recognized to have monodisperse structures and undergo easy purification after simple synthesis compared to conjugated polymers. Moreover, they exhibit not only favorable/tunable electronic properties but also reproducibility of the PV devices. Despite these potential advantages, not many solution-processed small molecules has been proposed to show better PV performances over the conventional polymers. In this study, we synthesized a new low bandgap conjugated small molecules without adding electron-withdrawing moiety into a molecular structure. Absorption and emission properties were investigated in solution and film states. Then, we applied them to fabricate organic solar cell follwing the conventional method with PCBM via solution process. The device performances were investigated in detail. |
