Influence of hydrophobic coating on Ti metal foam gas diffusion layer of PEMFC |
초록 |
Gas diffusion layer(GDL) in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) usually consists of carbon materials such as carbon fiber and carbon cloth. However, a carbon GDL has low corrosion resistivity at PEMFC operating conditions, which consist of high temperatures and strong acidity. For this reason, many research has been conducted for replacing carbon materials with metal in order to make new GDL with a high durability. Ti metal foam is one of the leading candidates for a novel GDL. The bare Ti foam, however, has hydrophilic pores which is unfavorable for the water management of membrane electrode assembly(MEA). In this study, we coated the Ti foam with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) to give a hydrophobic property to its pores and examined the influence of this coating in the aspect of the water management problem. |
