Facile Fabrication of Wavy Ag NW Network for Stretchable and Transparent Electrode |

Ag nanowire (Ag NW) based electrodes are promising candidates for soft electronic devices because of their superior electrical and optical properties. Although there have been an plentiful amount of reports in developing Ag NW based electrodes, investigations on the control of nanowire structure have been lacking because of the high Young’s modulus and low yield strain of Ag NWs. Here, we demonstrate that floating a Ag NW network on water and subsequent in-plane compression allows convenient development of a wavy configuration in the Ag NW network. Water-assisted compression made it possible to have the interconnected wavy Ag NW network without structural breakage. We found that wavy Ag NW networks exhibited excellent electrical performances and stable cyclic behavior under strain due to the wavy configuration of the network, which allows for the release of stress applied to the NWs. These results demonstrate their potential to provide improved performance for soft electronic devices. |
