Study on thermal properties of polymer/conductive filler system |

Thermal properties of polymer(PPS, PEEK, LCP)/thermal conductive filler(AlN, BN, SiC, CNT) were investigated from ambient temperature up to 200℃ measured by laser flash method. Values from Nielsen and Maxwell theories that predict thermal conductivity of two-phase system were compared to those obtained from experiment. Catalyst and pores of carbon nanotubes led to small thermal conductivity due to phonon scattering. Thermal conductivity of LCP/thermal conductive polymer system was increased from 0.2W/mK without filler up to 5.8 W/mK with 60 vol%. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) with sapphire reference method was used to measure the specific heat (Cp) up to 200℃.
