Carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction is an important research topic, to produce useful chemicals. Several studies have been reported on direct electrochemical reduction using different kinds of metal electrodes. However, the key issues for electrochemical reduction of CO2 are hydrogen evolution reaction in cathode compartment, poor selectivity of product and low faradic efficiency. These key issues are not solved. Currently several types of copper based nanomaterial with combination of conduction material were synthesized to address the issues. Same idea was adopted to produce MeOH from CO2 using binary cuprite (Cu2O) nanoparticle and PANI. The synthesized catalyst worked at low potential through selective MeOH production with maintaining high current and faradic efficiency. Moreover, given catalyst could be active around 120 min without forming any byproducts. |
