Hydrogels are one of the major materials for soft actuator that shows mechanical and physical movement in response to external stimuli like light, heat, pH and electric and chemical environmental change. Their reversible swelling and deswelling behavior by stimulation were served as various applications for robotics, sensors, microfluids, and biomedicine. In this study, we synthesized bilayer structure hydrogel soft actuator consisted of photothermal reactive layer incorporating gold nanorods (AuNPs) and non-reacted layer. The bilayer composite hydrogel can be self-heating on exposure to an near-infrared laser, and consequently can display shape transitions. The equilibrium water content, morphology, and bending behaviors of hydrogel were investigated. |
