Atom transfer radical polymerizations of N-isopropylacrylamide |
초록 |
Transition metal halide compounds are well-known as catalysts for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Copper halide-amine complexes have been utilized for polymerization of vinyl monomers. However, it has been known that the ATRPs of most polar monomers are not quantitatively achieved in organic solvent at relatively high temperature. Especially, Copper-mediated polymerization of acrylamide should be carefully tuned because of side reaction. In this lab, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) exhibiting the LCST behavior was successfully prepared by copper halide/alkyl halide-mediated polymerization in aqueous media. We will discuss the results in this presentation. |
